Question 1

How do I measure correctly?

Accepted Answer

Blood pressure changes during the day, so measure the same way every time — then the readings can be compared. Sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring. Back supported, feet flat on the floor, legs not crossed. No coffee, smoking or exercise in the 30 minutes before. Go to the toilet first if you need to. Put the cuff on your bare upper arm, not over clothing. Rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at the level of your heart. Don't talk or move while measuring. Measure twice, one minute apart, and write down both. When to measure: at the same times every day — in the morning within an hour of waking up (before breakfast and before taking medicines) and in the evening before going to bed. The same tips are on the Add a reading page — tap the ⓘ icon next to the title. If your readings are often high or very different from each other, talk to your doctor.

Question 2

Is my data safe?

Accepted Answer

No registration or login. Pulsu does not ask for your e-mail, phone number or password. Readings stay on your device. They are not sent to our server — we have no database to store them in. Health data is not shared with Facebook (Meta), Google Analytics or other services. With your consent we only count that the app was used, never the numbers. You can lock Pulsu with a PIN code: Settings → PIN code. Good to know: a report or link you send by e-mail stays in the mailbox, and anyone with the link can see the readings — send it only to your doctor. The Google Sheets backup is optional; if you switch it on, Google keeps the copy in your account. More details: Privacy policy.

Question 3

My readings have disappeared

Accepted Answer

Pulsu keeps your readings only in the browser on this device. We have no copy of them. The most common reasons why they are not visible: You opened Pulsu in a different way. On iPhone, the home screen icon and the Safari browser keep separate data. On Android, Chrome and other browsers (e.g. Samsung Internet) are also separate. Open Pulsu the same way as before. Browser data was cleared. Deleting history or "website data" also deletes the readings. On iPhone, Safari may delete the data of a website that has not been opened for 7 days. This does not happen if Pulsu is added to your home screen. Private (incognito) mode. Everything is deleted when the window is closed. If you have a backup file or a Google Sheets backup, you can bring the readings back: Settings → Your data → Restore from backup. Without a backup, the readings unfortunately cannot be recovered.

Question 4

I didn't get a notification

Accepted Answer

A web app can show a notification only when it is open or running in the background. When Pulsu is fully closed, no notification can come. Most reliable: add the reminder to your phone's calendar — Settings → Reminders → Add to calendar. The calendar reminds you even when Pulsu is closed. On iPhone, notifications work only if Pulsu is added to your home screen and opened from there. Check that Remind me to measure and Show a notification when it's time are switched on, and that notifications are allowed in the phone settings. Do Not Disturb or Focus mode can hide notifications.

Question 5

The link has expired or does not open

Accepted Answer

When creating a link you choose how long it is valid (7 to 60 days). After that the doctor sees "This link has expired". This protects your data — an old link does not stay open forever. Make a new link: Doctor → Create link, and send it again. You can also send a PDF instead. If the doctor sees "This link doesn't work", the link was probably cut short when copying. Send the whole link again or use the PDF.

Question 6

How do I move to a new phone or computer?

Accepted Answer

With a backup file: on the old phone go to Settings → Your data → Save backup file and send the file to yourself (e.g. by e-mail). On the new phone open pulsu.app → Settings → Your data → Restore from backup and choose the file. With Google Sheets: tap Connect Google Sheets on both phones with the same Google account. On the new phone the readings come back by themselves.

Question 7

I forgot my PIN code

Accepted Answer

The PIN code cannot be recovered — not even by us, because it is stored only on your device. Tap I forgot my PIN code on the lock screen: Pulsu deletes the data on this device and opens again. If you have a backup file or Google Sheets backup, you can then bring the readings back: Settings → Your data.

Question 8

How do I send my readings to my doctor?

Accepted Answer

Open Doctor and choose the period. Then choose a way: Send PDF — a report with averages, a chart and all readings. Best for e-mail or printing. Create link — the doctor opens it in any browser. You can also show it as a QR code at the appointment. Spreadsheet (CSV) — for opening in Excel.

Question 9

What do the colours mean?

Accepted Answer

The colours are a guide based on the home measurement target of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH 2023): Normal — below 135/85. High — 135/85 or higher. One high reading is no reason to worry: keep measuring and show the results to your doctor. Very high — 180/110 or higher. Sit calmly for 5 minutes and measure again. Low — below 90/60. Pulsu does not make a diagnosis. Ask your doctor which values are right for you. If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness or difficulty speaking, call 112.

Question 10

How do I add Pulsu to my home screen?

Accepted Answer

Question 11

Does Pulsu cost anything? Does it need internet?

Accepted Answer

Question 12

Accepted Answer

Question 13
